The good: Generally fast autofocus and autoexposure; can finalize discs while on battery power.

The bad: Middling video quality; no windscreen filter for microphone; small LCD with impractical touch screen-based menu system.

The bottom line: There are better choices than the Sony Handycam DCR-DVD305, a so-so DV

The DCR-DVD305 is not a bum camcorder. It’s just that $700 is a fair chunk of change, which could buy you a whole lot more in MiniDV. We don’t like towing this pro-MiniDV line in every DVD camcorder review, but we place performance first, and so will your viewing audience.
