Though not considered a compact digital-camera model, the focal length of this camera offers amazing versatility. Shoot dramatic close-ups and sharp fast-action shots with the 8.1 megapixel Cyber-shot® DSC-H7 digital camera. The Carl Zeiss 15X (35mm film equivalent to 31 – 465 mm) optical zoom and Advanced Sports Mode with high shutter speed are perfect for crisp long shots and excellent detail when shooting at sporting events. Super SteadyShot® image stabilization and high-sensitivity (ISO 3200) mode reduce blur when shooting without a flash and Face Detection technology brings out the best in faces.

DigitalCameraInfoThe H7 is also a strong performer, displaying excellent color accuracy, low noise levels, and a lot of detail in captured images. As with all digital cameras, there are a few downers on the H7 – the poor resolution on the LCD and the intrusive lens hood being the most notable – but they aren’t enough to cancel out the other great features and impressive image quality at the retail price of $399. |

Digital Camera ReviewI enjoyed using this camera, especially the power the 15x zoom gave me but as I mentioned earlier its bloated menu, lack of dedicated buttons (perhaps a benefit to some), and inability to change settings rapidly left me craving my DSLR. |

Digital Photography ReviewBut if you’ve got more exacting image quality standards, want to enlarge more or want to actually use all those advanced features I suspect that, like us, you’re going to find the H7 disappointing. At least the H9 has a great screen to take your mind off the fiddly controls and less-than-stellar results; the H7 is what it is – a budget model that, unfortunately, performs like one. |
