The DMC-FX8 features a 2.5-inch diagonal high-resolution LCD monitor—surprisingly large for such a compact camera. This high-quality, 207,000-pixel display makes it easy to see your subject. For easier viewing when shooting outdoors on a sunny day, press the Power LCD button to boost the backlighting by about 40%.

Good Gear GuideA wonderful camera that looks good, feels good and takes great shots. Highly recommended. |

Digital Photography InterfacePhoto quality was great except some softness at times and red-eye. Noise levels were lower than on the FX9. The movie mode is excellent though it should feature some sort of “zoom while recording” function, and the microphone more strategically placed. |

CNET AsiaThe FX8 does not appear to be a major upgrade from the FX7. However, it offers a much-awaited battery life improvement, among other user-friendly features. |

T3Overall, this is a solid camera that’s let down by its porky size and a weak zoom. But providing you can get past those hurdles, this is worth a look – just don’t hold it next to the supermodel-slim Sony T7 or it’ll get depressed. |
